As a result of the publishing of Mr. Dan Alario's books, "Westwego from Cheniere to the Canal," "Westwego Salutes the Military," and "Westwego Remembered," and through the efforts of State Representative Mr. John Alario, the Mayor of Westwego, Mr. Robert Billiot, and the City Council, the city of Westwego has been put on the historical map of this community, state and country. There is now a historical museum, Vintage café, Riverboat Landing, Performing Arts Theatre, Community Center, an upcoming Farmers and Fisheries Market, along with several other ongoing projects on this historical site.

Through the foresight and vision of Mr. Robert Billiot, our mayor, Mr. Dan Alario, president of the Westwego Historical Museum, Wayne Foret, and "Big Dave" Chaisson, the inception of the first annual "Car Show and Swamp Pop Fest" held in October of 2001, was a big success.

In 2002, a non-profit corporation, "Westbank Musicians Hall of Fame, Inc." was formed and filed with the Secretary of States Office in Baton Rouge.

Since its formation, the Board of Directors has unanimously voted Mrs. Dot Theriot of Westwego into our organization as a member.

This corporation and its officers will be the sponsor of future annual "Car Show and Swamp Pop Fest," and any related fund raisers held for the purpose of funding our main goal of inducting and honoring our westbank musicians into the Hall of Fame.

Our mayor and City Council has graciously allowed our corporation the use of the building next door to the Westwego Historical Museum on Sala avenue (which is now being renovated) to display and celebrate our westbank musicians, living and deceased, for public viewing. It will be named, "The Westbank Musicians Hall of Fame."

Our "2nd Annual Swamp Pop Fest and Car Show" was held on October 26, 2003, which also served as our induction ceremony for the following musicians into the Hall of Fame: Sidney Arodin, Joe Barry, Johnny Bonvillain, Vin Bruce, Joe Carl, Pott Folse, Frankie Ford, Tommy Warren, "Frogman" Henry, Leroy Martin, Dino Palmisano, Huey Bourgeois, L.J. Foret, James Jackel, Red LeBlanc, Bobby Mitchell, Jimm Palmisano, Barry Rodrigue, Bobby Tassin, and Johnny Thomassie.

After the resignation of the President, Buck Baker, in early 2004, Wayne Foret was appointed as Interim President and Ms. Dot Theriot was appointed Interim Vice-President for the remainder of the year.

On October 6, 2004, an induction ceremony was held at the Westwego Civic Association Center, for our 2004 inductees, whom were: Lenny Abadie, Buck Baker, Carroll Boudreaux, Ronnie Boudreaux, "T-Man" Bourgeois, Jerry Chassson, C.J. Cheramie, Jake Chimento, D.J. Collins, "Bootsie" Cuquet, Jimmy Elledge, Billy Fayard, Wayne Foret, Ronnie Galle, Jules Gaspard, Don Gautreaux, Ricky Hanks, "Boo" Hargis, Eddie Hynes, Hector Nieves, Paul "Little Richard" Oncale, Eddie Parrino, Richard Pitre, Jerry Raines, "Grits" Ramagos, Duane Schurb, "Midge" Terminie, "Skeeter" Thomassie, Andy Valence, Ronnie Barrouse, Ray Barry, George Bellamore, "King" Busiere, "Speedy" Courteaux, Emile Hourcade, Sr., Wilbert Guidry, Earl Ortego, and Dan Ory.

And on October 24, 2004, our "3rd Annual Swamp Pop Fest and Car Show," was held at the Alario Center. Along with several Swamp Pop bands, our 2004 inductees had the opportunity to perform. Some of which not entertained in several years. It was an event enjoyed by all.

We are a newly formed organization and there is much work to be done. Hopefully, in the next few years as we begin to grow; we will be able to expand into a larger "Hall of Fame" facility on historical Sala Avenue. We hope to make our organization and our facility something the city of Westwego, the westbank, and the entire state of Louisiana can be proud of.
